After being teased for months, the Pharrell x adidas NMD Hu “Aqua” sporting South African words gets a confirmed release for May 14th retailing for $220.
Pharrell Williams teased an entire collection of new NMD Hu vivid colorways last year. And while we here at YankeeKicks were lucky enough to show off the first looks, the details surrounding many of the models remained close to the chest; until now.
Beautiful Light Aqua works its way throughout the Primeknit upper to the Core Black synthetic sockliner. The matching Aqua EVA midsole connects the smooth outsole complete with OG NMD hexagonal grooves and White peeking through.
Meanwhile, the TPU comprises the Clear Aqua quarter panel lace cages and adidas branded heels. Likewise, this lighter hue covers the laces speckled with Silver ending in 3 stripe aglets that break up the darker one. This pulls attention to the Xhosa characters spelling out Uluntu or “Human Race” embroidered across the forefoot in Clear Aqua.
The color and material contrast create this incredible icy cool vibe ideal for the Summer heat. Xhosa, being the native language in South Africa, moves Pharrell’s silhouette out of Asia and into continental Africa. Moreover, the sole inserts show off the reflexology organs coinciding with pressure points along the bottom of the foot in adidas Light Blue, cut out in the same hexagonal grooves found on the outsole.
You can cop the Pharrell x adidas NMD Hu “Aqua” May 14th at adidas.com. But, if you’re looking for some of the other colorways from this collection, head over to the YankeeKicks Store.
