Among the several upcoming sneaker collabs that were unveiled during New York Fashion Week, we saw a pack of Olympic level running shoes. Major stand outs were the Nike Air Zoom Viperfly and the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT%.
Kenyan distance-runner Eliud Kipchoge had a Alphafly Next% prototype on his feet during Ineos 1:59 Challenge in Vienna Austria last October. He finished the marathon in 1 hour 59 minutes and 40 seconds.
This feat was 2 years of collaborative effort between Eliud and Nike’s Sport Research Lab NEXT% footwear innovation system. Traditional Flyknit yarn gets reimagined with runners in mind upper and rebranded as Atomknit.
Atomknit snuggly supports the upper Alphafly Next% in Black and Neon green. The once Flyknit upper has been given a scientific reboot that pushes the limits of footwear and athletics alike. Ultra-responsive Black Zoom Air pods in the forefoot and thick Neon Green ZoomX foam in the heel stacked tall at 39.5mm-45mm.
A full-foot carbon fiber Nike Flyplate ensures stability and a smooth transition runners need to stay ahead of the game. Nike Members will get an advance release February 29th, 2020. Until then, be sure to stay tuned for more sneak peeks, reviews and releases of the hottest kicks.
