Without a doubt, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Pink Pig” dropping in March sets the tone for the New Year. The vibrant use of Atomic Pink with University Red accents rival Ms. Piggy in cuteness. All while staying true to the SB aesthetic and creativity. Although easily comparable to CNCPTS Dunk High “When Pigs Fly” that released in 2012, these Dunks got their inspiration elsewhere.
In 1971, Martini International debuted a one-off experimental research and development 917/20 Porsche at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 39th Grand Prix of Endurance. The Porche’s exaggerated body proportions, Bright Pink paint job, and accompanying Red meat cut lines earned it the name “Pink Pig.” Although it only raced once suffering heavy damage during the Grand Prix, the Porsche still qualified for seventh place.
This Dunk Low reimagines the racing car’s aesthetic in the plush suede upper dripping in Atomic Pink. From nylon sockliner to thick SB laces atop a mesh tongue, we see this very Pig-colored Pink brace the silhouette. University Red detailing mimics the Red lines found on the Porsche and adds just the right amount of accent. Subsequently, the design rests atop a classic White Air-sole unit and Black rubber outsole with just a little more Atomic Pink revealed in the arch.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Pink Pig” Porsche-inspired sneaker brings kick and car lovers together in a memorable way. While no official release is known, they are expected to release this month. So be sure to keep it locked to YankeeKicks for more information coming soon.
