First in 2019, Virgil Abloh displayed what was then known as the “Cream” WMNS AJ 4 Sample during his “Figures of Speech” art exhibition. Then, the official silhouette now dubbed “Sail” hit the February 2020 Off-White Women’s Runway Show. Finally, coinciding with their release, Virgil auctioned an exclusive pair for a whopping $186,859 (give or take) with proceeds for Black Lives Matter. Now, with the drop date passing only yesterday for $200, we can say with authority that the Off-White WMNS Air Jordan 4 Retro SP “Sail” is incredible up close.

Get Into The Look…

Using high quality materials, Virgil Abloh elevates Tinker Hatfield’s design with supple Muslin leather, Sail accents and delicate sheer tooling. Every inch of the upper is buttery smooth. Exposed edges in the mudguard tooling creates the best accidentally-on-purpose shimmer. Likewise, the tongues Jumpman Flight emblem gets a tool shroud complete with unfurling edges. This looks amazing when pairs with the exposed foam seams Virgil is known for. Below the translucent medial panel cages, we find Off-Whites trademark stamp with details for the Air Jordan IV. Similarly, these transparent cages match the Nike Air heel stabilizer Subsequently, a faint Turquoise color not found on the upper peaks out in the herringbone traction and Nike branding on the outsole. Even the sole inserts get special attention, made from interwoven thread instead of the synthetic sockliner. In addition to the pre-laced Sail pair, this AJ 4 comes with more “SHOELACE” branded laces in Black, Turquoise and Muslin.
