Get a first look at the upcoming CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” expected to release this March. Back in 2006, “East meets West” Hong Kong-based streetwear label CLOT partnered with Nike just three years after their own establishment. Together, they created the original AM 1 “Kiss of Death” in celebration of China’s first sneaker boutique. And what better way to pay homage than with a reworking of that silhouette.

The aesthetic screams ancient Chinese medicine and martial arts, focusing on the flow of “Ch’i” or “Qi.” Anyone who’s seen Naruto might have an understanding of how it works. Basically, ch’i is believed to be the essence of life in any living entity. When flowing properly, ch’i connects you and your spiritual self with the universe.

This AM 1 depicts cobranded CLOT x Nike ch’i charts across the sole inserts, seemingly working from the feet up to create the proper flow. Subsequently, the transparent rubber outsole reveals a color-coded pressure point map. Meanwhile, the upper itself opts for a mix of designs utilizing suede, leather, transparent TPU. Net coats the suede overlays as well as the leather collar with ostrich embellishments. The leather heel takes on Deep Red with gorgeous Orange Blaze CLOT embroidery. Likewise, this same CLOT icon appears on the reserve side of the tongue in Pale Green to match the Nike Air Max branding on the front side as well as the inside upper eyestays.

Additionally, Deep Red pops in its reptilian scales on the tongue and quarter panel Nike Swooshes. Finally, Orange Blaze dominates the midsole, bringing the whole look together. Everything arrives in a special Black shoebox complete with Chinese characters and braiding graphics. The CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” sneakers will be available at select retailers as well as the Nike official website sometime this March. However, no word on an official date or price tag.
