Black associates at New Balance bring us a special Black History Month Capsule dubbed “My Story Matters” featuring the Men’s 990V5 and Unisex 574. The New Balance 990V5 features an Angora colored suede and mesh upper. Classic Burgundy hits the US Made tongue tab, laces, and forefoot accents. This leaves Royal Purple to coat the suede heel and ENCAP midsole. Subsequently, a Golden and Gum Blown rubber outsole completes the design.
The New Balance 574 switches up the colorway a bit, opting for Black and Royal Purple to pull focus. The mainly suede upper places Purple on the toe wrap and mesh tow box. Black suede quarter panels house matching laces. Likewise, Black appears on the leather heel counter, tongue, liner, and suede ankle. Meanwhile, Burgundy hits the large “N” quarter panel brands as well as heel and tongue branding, Designed by Black NB associates, each pair includes a removable braided lace that wraps around the heel.
Additionally, the NB x BHM “My Story Matters” capsule includes two hoodies and two Tees prominently modeled by New Balance ambassadors Jaden Smith and Coco Gauff. The collection itself ranges from the New Balance 990V5 retailing for $175 to the Tees priced at $35.
The entire capsule releases February 15th right in the middle of Black History Month with plenty of time to celebrate Black excellence for the rest of the month and the rest of 2021. Do you plan to cop something from the collection? Keep it locked to YankeeKicks for more news coming soon.
