For All Star Weekend 2020, Nike brand continues to go all out to honor and salute its hosting city of Chicago. From the AJ 3 “Red Cement” to Lebron 7 “Chlorine Blue”, each sneaker celebrates something about the Windy City. Now, Nike reflects on the year 1997 this All Star Weekend with a WMNS Air Force 1 Low Jewel “Chicago.”
1997 became a memorable year for both the Chicago and Nike brand. The Air Force 1 Jewel debuted, updating the OG 1982 design. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls were rocking a sleek and bold Red on Black pinstripe uniform. The 2020 WMNS Jewel Force 1 Low adopts this colorway with some special accents.
The low-profile upper sports Black leather under University Red pinstripes that are stitched down the overlaying mudguard and heel panels. The tongue, perforated toe box, eyestays and quarter panels remain the polished Black.
Translucent Red quarter panel Swooshes transition to clear as they approach the heel. The heel tab itself covered in Black pony-hair with a Nike Chicago logo embroidered in University Red. Black padded collars leas into the satin sockliner to a striking Red insert. On it, reads a series of affirmations like “Empowering Each Other” “Creative” and “Unique.”
More Red accents can be found on the Nike Air tongue tab, and in the striped Black rope laces ending in a circa ’97 Golden Nike basketball. The Low sits atop the iconic chunky White Air Force 1 midsole and outsole. Completing the look is a Nike Air authentic collar tag.
Ladies can look forward to the release of the WMNS Air Force 1 Low Jewel to drop Thursday February 13, just ahead of All Star Weekend. Retailing for $140, will you be rocking them court side or for a Valentine’s Day outing? Either way, it’s a vibe. Be sure to stay tuned for more sneak peeks, reviews and releases of the hottest kicks.
